Installation Guide
SynapSpec supports multiple installation methods across Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms.
System Requirements
Operating System
- Windows: Windows 10, 11, or Server 2016/2019/2022 (64-bit)
- macOS: macOS 10.14 or higher (Apple Silicon only)
- Linux: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or higher
Processor
- Minimum: 4 cores
- Recommended: Intel or AMD CPU with 16 cores or more
Memory
- Minimum: 16 GB RAM
- Recommended: 32 GB RAM or more
- Note: 4 GB RAM per thread for optimal performance
Storage
- Installation: 3 GB available disk space
- Data Processing: 2 TB or more (2x dataset size recommended)
- Recommended: SSD for improved processing speed
Software Dependencies
Before installing SynapSpec, ensure you have the following dependencies installed:
.NET Runtime 8.0 or Higher
Download and install the .NET Runtime (not SDK) from Microsoft .NET Downloads
- Select .NET Runtime for your operating system
- Follow the installation instructions for your platform

Mono (macOS only)
Install via Homebrew:
brew install mono
libmpv (Linux only)
Install via package manager:
sudo apt install libmpv-dev
Installation Methods
Binary Downloads
Download pre-built binaries from our SynapSpec download page.
Windows
- Download
SynapSpec-windows-{version}.msi - Run the installer
- Follow the installation wizard
macOS
- Download
SynapSpec-macos-{version}.dmg - Mount the DMG file
- Drag SynapSpec to Applications folder
Note: Note: If you encounter issues on MacOS after installation, such as a warning message when running the program or the program quitting immediately after launch, please refer to the Troubleshooting Guide for solutions.
Linux
- Download
SynapSpec-linux-{version}.tar - Extract tar:
tar -xvf SynapSpec-linux-{version}.tar - Run:
./synapspec
